About me
Hello, my name is Israt J. Alam, my students call me Mrs. A. I was born and raised in Bangladesh. I have been living in the US for the last 24 years. After graduation, I started working at the Montclaire Child Development Center, New Jersey. In 2006, I moved to Delaware and started working as an ESL teacher for the Brandywine School District (BSD). I have a BA in early childhood and Special Ed (2004). I completed my masters in ESOL from Wilmington University.
Currently, I am working as an ELL teacher at the Springer Middle School. My pedagogy is specifically targeted towards teaching of ethnically diverse learners. The students are from all over the world (Asia, Europe and South America). The ethnically diverse nature of the ELL students presents a challenging situation. Being a multilingual (English, Bengali, Hindi and Urdu) ESL teacher, I have a number of advantages. I am very familiar with the languages and culture and can communicate to the students arriving from Indian subcontinent very effectively.
I love gardening and become excited to see new green new buds bursting out of dormancy and waking up to warm weather!
I am a mother of two wonderful boys.
